Ferrobend manufactures and supplies premium quality Lap Joint Flanges engineered for frequent dismantling, corrosion-resistant piping systems, and low to medium-pressure industrial applications. Manufactured in accordance with international standards to provide reliable performance, easy maintenance, and long service life.
A Lap Joint Flange is a pipe flange used together with a Stub End to create a bolted piping connection. Unlike other flange types, the flange is not welded directly to the pipe. Instead, the Stub End is butt-welded to the pipe, while the Lap Joint Pipe Flange slides over the pipe and acts as a backing flange.
This two-piece design allows the flange to rotate freely, making bolt hole alignment quick and accurate during installation. The gasket seating (sealing face) is provided by the Stub End, while the flange supplies the bolting force. Lap Joint Flanges are commonly used in low to medium-pressure piping systems, particularly where frequent dismantling, easy maintenance, or the use of corrosion-resistant alloy piping makes a rotating backing flange advantageous.
Free-rotating flange allows fast and accurate bolt alignment during installation.
Allows frequent dismantling and quick reassembly without cutting the pipeline.
Carbon steel backing flange can be combined with stainless steel or alloy Stub Ends.
Ideal for corrosive process piping using stainless steel or alloy Stub Ends.
Trusted across chemical, petrochemical, water treatment, and process industries.
Provides dependable service in low to medium-pressure industrial piping systems.
Lap Joint Flanges are widely used in industrial piping systems because their two-piece design provides excellent installation flexibility, easy maintenance, and cost savings. Used together with a Stub End, they are especially suitable for corrosion-resistant piping systems and applications that require frequent dismantling or flange alignment.
Their rotating backing flange simplifies installation while reducing labor time, making them a preferred choice where quick maintenance and long-term serviceability are important.
Key Advantages of Lap Joint Flanges include Easy Bolt Hole Alignment, Ideal for Frequent Maintenance, Cost-Effective for Alloy Piping by allowing the use of a carbon steel backing flange with a stainless steel or alloy Stub End, Suitable for Corrosive Services including chemical, petrochemical, water treatment, and other corrosion-resistant piping systems, together with a Flexible & Reliable Design for low to medium-pressure piping applications.
A Lap Joint Flange is designed as a two-piece piping connection consisting of a backing flange and a butt-welded Stub End. Unlike most pipe flanges, the flange is not welded directly to the pipe, allowing it to rotate freely for easy bolt hole alignment and simplified installation.
The Stub End provides the gasket seating (sealing face), while the backing flange supplies the bolting force required for a secure connection.
Since the flange does not come into contact with the process fluid, it can be manufactured from carbon steel, while the Stub End is produced from Stainless Steel, duplex stainless steel, or other corrosion-resistant alloys, providing an economical and reliable solution for industrial piping systems.
Lap Joint Flanges are widely used in industrial piping systems because they offer excellent installation flexibility, easy maintenance, and cost savings. Their two-piece design, consisting of a backing flange and Stub End, makes them an ideal choice for corrosion-resistant piping systems and applications requiring frequent dismantling.
Ferrobend manufactures Lap Joint Flanges in a comprehensive range of Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel, Duplex Stainless Steel, Super Duplex Stainless Steel, Nickel Alloys, Titanium, Copper Alloys, and other special engineering materials for demanding industrial applications.
